I prefer Guinevere. Just because I don't find the single syllable Gwen very attractive on its own. Also, I believe that it should stay a nickname for Guinevere or Gwendolyn and not used on its own.

It is a name in its own right.
It's always been used on its own - only recently has it been dubbed a nickname.
