Amalthea - usable or not? Nicknames?
Ok, so a huge G.P. for me is Amalthea. Amalthea was the one-horned goat who fed Zeus. One horn, like a unicorn. I suspect that is why Peter S. Beagle chose the name Amalthea to represent his unicorn-turned-human-girl in "The Last Unicorn". As a huge TLU fan and a fan of unicorns (another GP that I seldom indulge), I have loved this name for as long as I can remember. So, is it usable? What nicknames would you use? What middle name would you pair it with? (Anything Irish?)

I think it is really beautiful and definitely useable because it has a lot of nicknames that make it a little less complex. Amy and Thea are the nicest nicknames I can think of. Amalthea Maeve could work, or Amalthea Siobhan if you wanted irish names. My favourite combo would be Amalthea Iris

It's usable as long as you call her by some nn, like Amy, Ama, or Thea.Amalthea should be matched with something short, I think. Do you like Amalthea Neve?
