Perhaps it's the contrarian in me because I assume Hilda will not be popular. But I'm drawn to her.
I'd be thrilled if I were introduced to a real baby Irene. I love seeing classics revived. But I confess I've always found the sound of Irene to be harsh. (I pronounce it "eye-REEN.")
Hilda, on the other hand, is melodic and sweet. Plus, my mother used to call my sister "Hildy-Mary" as a nn. (Her name is Hilary Patricia.) I love the nn Hildy.
