Silvia?
WDYTO Silvia? Any mns/fns you can think of? Connotations, good or bad? Is it a name that can withstand age and international appeal (in other words, is it a name that other countries would find acceptable/appealing/contemporary)?

I like Silvia. It's not a name I'd use, but I'd like to see it on someone else's kid.
I think it works well internationally and forms of it are used in most countries (spelled Sylvia, Silvija, etc.). In Croatia it's not fashionable now, but common on grownups.
Silvia Io
Silvia Hope
Silvia Dorothy

Silvia Glory
Silvia Barbara
Silvia Tess
Silvia Justine
Silvia Zoe
Silvia Josephine
Silvia Olive
Silvia Bethany

Silvia is a beautiful name. I prefer the spelling Sylvia, but Silvia is nice too. I'd use Sylvie, but not Sylvia / Silvia because the latter reminds me of an old woman who lived in the same nursing home as one of my grandmother's clients. The woman used to call out for a Sylvia on a frequent basis. I never figured out who Sylvia was, but I still think of the woman whenever I hear the name. It was a sad situation. If it weren't for that, Sylvia might be on my list.
I'd say that Silvia has international appeal, and it would withstand age well.
Combos:

I have two connotations - Rhea Silvia (the mother of Romulus and Remus, founders of Rome) and Sylvia Plath. However I do not think it makes the name unuseable.
It is well known in lots of countries and I think it has a very pretty sound.
Silvia Rebecca
Silvia Alice
Silvia Therese
Silvia Bryony
Silvia Jane
Silvia Lorraine
Silvia Magdalena
Silvia Diana
Silvia Laura
Silvia Rachel
Silvia Helen(a)
Any ideas?
