Irene
I have been thinking about the allure of Irene lately. I believe it is not quite, but on the verge of coming back. To me, it is quite sleek, a bit neglected, shy, and elegant. In other words, almost perfect. I think it might pop into my top ten. What are your thoughts? Rate 1-10? The movies Gattaca and Priceless have also influenced my affection for Irene.
Irene Melisande is my favorite combo at the moment, but I would be happy to consider some others.

I can definitely see Irene coming back into style, along with Iris and Helen, for the exact reasons you pointed out. It would hold a lot of appeal for the discerning parent who wants something "refreshing but not weird".
I'm not a massive fan of Irene but only because it holds no mystery for me - Irene was the name of the mother of one of my closest friends when I was young. She was Scottish and enormously tall and scary.
Irene Melisande is lovely and very fanciful. I se Irene as a kind of champion for the downtrodden, very proud and bold, so I'd pair her with something similarily rough-and-tumble elegant. Irene Maud is really speaking to me.

Are you pronouncing it with two syllables, or three? I prefer eye-REE-nee to eye-REEN, but I don't know the movies.
I had an aunt by marriage by the name of Irene. She was a nice enough woman, kind of shrill, with a habit of moving her dentures around in her mouth. I was oddly fascinated by this habit as a child. So I always associate the name with her. For years, by default, because of my aunt, I considered it an old dowdy lady name. Not that she was particularly dowdy, but to me it was dowdy just because it seemed an older generation name.
When I can free it from that association, I have to admit that it is rather pretty and elegant. I can't really think of it as shy, though, because my aunt was anything but shy. Still, I would approve of a baby Irene.

I think Irene is a gorgeous name. 8 out of 10. Irene Melisande is really fanciful. I like it! Are you pronouncing Irene with 3 syllables or 2? Sorry so many combos have Irene in the middle. I think it's great there.

I'm rather indifferent to Irene, but like Irena (pronounced 'ee-RE-nah').
Irene Melisande is a nice combo and the more unusual middle name gives the rather common Irene some pizzaz.
How about these:
Irene Domenica
Irene Magdalena
Irene Isadora
Irene Theodosia
Irene Soraya
Irene Shoshannah

I think Irene is very nice. Goodnight, Irene.
I like Irene, it was my great grandmothers name as well as my sister's middle name. 10
