I think they're both relatively nice (on other people's children) and it would depend on what it's paired with which is more appropriate.
I've seen Jayne, which is ok, but Jane is preferable. I don't like it spelled Jain and someone I know used Jaine for a daughter... don't really like that either.
Jill is better w/ a J than a G.
I think they age just fine. Can work for an old lady or litle girl or something in between.
