Silvester, Nicodemus, and Peregrine
Replies
Nicodemus doesn't work for me at all, and I can only see Peregrine in the mn spot...do like its meaning.
Silvester, however, I am quite fond of. Most people I've heard/seen comment on it seem to think it unusable because it's so associated with the cartoon cat, but that association just doesn't bother me. I think Silver works as a nickname. :)

Silvester is OK, I don't like Silver as a nn. That's a little too out-there for me. Silvester still reminds me of the cartoon cat. Plus, I just hear "vest," and though I enjoy wearing vests, it's just not really that pleasing to my ears
Nicodemus is nice. I have a cousin named this (they called him Nicky as a little kid and Nico when he got older). It's a little much for me, but still kinda cool.
Peregrine is AWESOME!!! I heard it once as a girls' name in a movie and I thought it was lovely. While it sounds a little anemic for a boy, I think it sounds strong but not over the top for a girl.

Silvester - It's not bad. There is something appealing about it. I think Silver could work as a nn for sure.
Nicodemus - I've never been a big fan. I just don't like the sound, and it makes me think of the bad rats in The Secret of Nimh... although he wasn't a bad character, but I think the bad rats killed him or something. I picture a lot of evil red eyes and fire, so bad association!
Peregrine - I really like this. It seems like it would be over-the-top, but it isn't. I know someone with a young son by this name. It's so dashing and adventurous!

Silvester automatically makes me think of a cartoon cat and can't be taken seriously. Nicodemus is ok, I guess. Can't separate Peregrine from a bird and I don't like it as a name. It's kinda ugly and I really dislike the nn Perry. It almost sounds girly even though it's not.
Silver's a better name for a pet (maybe a horse) than a person.

I've always loved Peregrine, to start. I think it's incredibly appealing and charming, whilst it has an almost feminine touch; it feels as if it's straight out of Mythology, like the name of some wonderful creature. I just really love it for some reason!
I really like Nicodemus. I think it's very handsome as well even though I'm still warming up to it. It sounds very powerful and masculine.
However, I'm not loving Silvester. Personally, and I mean no offense, it just sounds... too Stallone-y or something. :P I REALLY love Silver though!

There's a real falcon that's called the Peregrine falcon and it's the first image that comes to mind when I hear the word.
