I don't think Balthasar would work on a child at all. It sounds sinister to me, like it might be given to the "baddie" in a Disney film.

Isn't there a childrens programme where one of the main characters is a teddy bear called Balthasar?
I can't remember the name of it, but the puppets were made by Jim Henson's Workshop.
I like it, but I think the spelling is a bit awkward. I've spent my life spelling my surname, and I can easily imagine a child getting quite annoyed having to spell his name constantly.

Balthazar is a very neat name! I think with Sebastian it's a bit overkill, because they are quite similar in style (long, impressive, somewhat European).
I prefer Balthazar, just because I think that's the spelling most people would leap to. However, it's such a showy name that it doesn't really need the Z, so I love Balthasar too.
I like..
Balthazar Miguel
Balthazar Diego
Balthazar Nicholas
Balthazar Jesse
Balthazar Jay
Balthazar Antonio
Balthazar Manuel
Balthazar Francis
Balthazar Peter
Balthazar Teague
Something a bit plain/common/normal works best, I think.

I love the name, but I prefer Baltasar and Baltazar. The H looks superfluous to me. While I don't at all like Sebastian, I agree that they'd sound nice together.
Some suggestions:
Baltazar Ash
Baltazar George
Baltazar Christian
Baltazar Philip
Baltazar Edmund
Baltazar Thomas
Baltazar Edwin
Baltazar Harold
Baltazar Charles
Baltazar Martin
Baltazar Lyle
Baltazar Eric
I like the idea of grounding it with a traditional middle name, but I'm not really sure what sorts of names you like, heh. I don't have any really good suggestions for middle names just now.

"Phineas. That's an interesting name."
"Yeah. It's Latin for 'kick me'."
