I do pronounce Casper & Caspar the same, which happens to bother me and makes me only like the "er" spelling. I've tried saying Caspar with more of an "a" sound at the end, but then it just sounds strange to me and not like a name.

Definitely not a "k" person when the name is generally spelled with a "c", so Casper gets my vote. :)
