Winona
I've been loving Winona for a little while but it's not mentioned too often around here and I've seen a lot of negative reactions to it. What do you think of it?

Apparently I am in the minority. I do not care for this name at all, mostly due an unpleasant association with a small town of the same name.
my boss's mom's name!
She goes by Nonie, which I love love love. She's a super sweet lady, very active and chipper, so I have a good association with it. Thumbs up from me.

I think Winona is a fine choice. It's feminine and has the long "o" my ear fancies. It can feel sweet and wild or seriously intellectual. Sure, folks may be reminded of the actress or country singer and may or may not consider those individuals to be positive associations but I can't see how this should be a real problem. There are names I won't personally use due to negative associations, but these are real biggies like Adolf and Lucifer (I really want to consider the latter usuable but just can't). Our celebrity Winona's, while fallible humans like the rest of us, certainly aren't in that category. :)
My grandmother is Alice Winona. I like it quite a bit.
I like Winona, but think that it's too tied to the actress to be used in real life.
It's OK. Of course I have the Winona Ryder association but that's not really a problem.
I really like the sound of it and always have. But, here in South Africa I've never seen, heard of or even read about a Winona - except for Hiawatha's mother, and I don't know if she counts! So I've got no associations with it at all.
That said, I don't like Winnie much and I really dislike Winifred.

I love it, have had it on my list for a long time now. It seems naturey to me, I guess because it sounds like "wind."
But, it also has NO in it. The stressed syllable. And another N right after it. That doesn't work for me. I don't like too many N's (I have extras, N in all of them, first middle and last). And the clincher is just that I personally would not want to be addressed with a name that had a big NO in it. It's probably just a stupid quirk of mine, since I don't really notice it when I address Noahs and Noras and Winonas - but when I think about naming a child or renaming myself, it's a no go.

I love Winona! I'm not very likely to use it, but I still love it :)
It's like Winnifred without the stuffiness. And it's whimsical and solid at the same time, like Rowena. And unlike Rowena, I like all of the sounds in it (I still want to say RowEHNa...)

I love this name too! I like Win for a nn.
I'm very fond of Winona, but I personally wouldn't use it on my child. I think it's a wonderful name but like I said i cant see myself using it. My favorite combos are:
