Even though I generally like girl's names that start with a V, I've never been able to like Virginia. I'm not sure why. It's the type of name I usually like--long, flowery, ends in an A, and starts with my favorite letter, V. Why don't I like it? I think it's just got an image for me---of a big, clunky girl wielding a hockey stick. Maybe because I knew someone like that, in college, whose name was Virginia? Must be. She was always called Ginny---I don't like that nickname, and maybe that's another reason I don't like Virginia.
