Ethel
Could Ethel potentially make a comeback?
Ethel Gertrude
Ethel Maude
Ethel Beulah
Ethel Roberta
Ethel Mae
Ethel Celia
Ethel Christine
Ethel Cecile
Ethel Ruth
Ethel Darla
To name just a combination or two.

I think its beautiful
...but not really in some of the combos you have. The middle names weight it down. To me, Ethel can be very ethereal, but then you match her with Gertrude or Beulah and she sinks like a rock. I do like Ethel Mae and Ethel Cecile/Celia though. How about:
Ethel Fleur
Ethel Helene
Ethel Isolde
Ethel Irene
Ethel Lenore
Ethel Ophelia
Ethel Seraphine
Ethel Tamsin

It sounds like a chemical though... gas... gasoline... Ethel (not far from ethyl... like as in ethynol)... ethelyn...
My mother had a cousin named Ethel.
I don't know why it's so unattractive. It's the steriotypical "ugly" name, used on t.v. shows as shorthand for awkward, unlikeabe women.
Ethel Elaine?
Ethel Andrea?

eww
It's too ugly. That's why people don't use it anymore. It's even worse than Ethan.

There's a sophomore at my high school named Ethel!
Almost any name is up for a comeback eventually (except for maybe Cinderella or Barney).
Ethel Gertrude is totally Victorian and awesome!
Ethel Maude is a bit simpler than Ethel Gertrude and more to the point.
Ethel Mae is kind of "hipster."
Ethel Christine - combining a Victorian name with a more youthful 70s name would make it more 2010
Ethel Ruth - simple, subdued, but could be pulled off
What about...
Ethel Mary Linda
Ethel Beatrice
Ethel Annie
Ethel Catherine
Ethel Frances
Ethel Sophie
Ethel Margaret
Ethel Magdalene
Ethel Charlotte
Ethel Elizabeth
Ethel Natalie
Ethel Nicole
Ethel Anna
Ethel Gabrielle
Ethel Benjamine
Like any?
Also, what about Ethelinda or Etheldreda?

I confess to having a soft spot for Ethel. I used to hate it, but it's so charmingly awkward.
I like Ethel Roberta, Ethel Mae, Ethel Celia, Ethel Christine, and Ethel Ruth.

Ethel is like ether, not likely to make a comeback. I think it could since it is quite short but then maybe not. I would say if it does it would be in rapid meteoric rise. Then the rule of gravity would send Ethel right back to the abyss.

Such a rise would prob'ly require some famous person choosing the name for a baby... and parents then deciding it's ok to honour their great aunts, grandmothers and such by using the name while it's actually socially acceptable to do so.
Celebrities are known for doing this type of naming. Otherwise, the name Neveah would have never seen the light of day.
I saw a baby Ethel once!
I posted about it and most people were not impressed, but I admired her parent's pluck! Her sister had a more modern (possibly made up?) name so they made an interesting pair.
I think Edna, Erna and Enid have more chance for revival, but It'd be cool to met an Ethel fo sho. I'd probably stay away from similarily dowdy middle name and pick something with more kapow, like...Ethel Veronica.
