I love it for a girl! Love love love it!

I love Hero for a girl.

I'm a big fan of being different but Hero doesn't do much for me on either gender. Why not use Hera?

I think it's better on a girl. Less tacky than on a boy. But it's still too much to live up to as a word name.

I can see the appeal as a GP, but irl, as Ozma said, it's too much to live up to. Hera might be better.
The only time I've seen it on a boy was in the Harry Potter cast on the little boy who played young Tom Riddle, whose name is apparently Hero Beauregard Fiennes-Tiffin - which has to be a strong candidate for silliest name ever! :)

Sounds too much like Hiro, which is a sector of many Japanese names. The only use for Hero is as a nn for the Japanese Hiro- names.

No violent disapproval issuing from me! I like Hero, though I'm not sure I would ever consider using it.

I really like it for a boy... but I don't know if I'd ever be brave enough to use it!

I really like it. I know when you say Hero, people typically think male, but I prefer the name for a girl because of Much Ado About Nothing. If you didn't want to be so "out there", you could maybe go with Hermione nn Hero. Either way, I think it's great!
