Nicola
What do you think of the name Nicola? I like it said nih-KOLE-ah, but I think tha's wrong. I also like NIK-oh-lah, but I prefer the first one. Which pron'n do you like best, and does anyone know the 'correct' one? Also, what do you think of the name in general, and can you think of any good middle names? Thanks a lot in advance.

As soon as I saw how you spelled out the pronounciation, all I could think of was the old commercial for "Ricola" (sp?) with the guys in Swiss costumes on the mountaintop yelling "Ree-CO-LA"!
In German it is pronaunced NI-koh-la and is quite common
I used to assume it was like Nicole with an -a on the end, too. But I heard it on several British tv shows/movies and it was pronounced like NIC-uh-lah, which I now LOVE. :b But the only thing is that that pronunciation reminds of the Ricola cough drops (and the people yelling REE-KOH-LAH...lol).

It's NICK-o-la to me, because I've never heard it any other way. I tended to pronounce it like Nicole -a too, until I met one. I agree with Donham about it sounding like Ricola cough drops that way.
I definitely prefer the emphasis on the first syllable. I really like the name that way.
Trying out some middle names with it:
Nicola Darcy
Nicola Jane
Nicola Marie
Nicola Maxine
Nicola Raven
Nicola Chelsea
Nicola Genevieve
Nicola Rachel
Nicola Valentine
- chazda

The truth is, I have met the right person, only he's not in love with me, and until I stop loving him no-one else stands a chance

I pronounce it NIH-cah-lah
I've heard both pronunciations before, and I'm not sure which is the "correct" one. I like the look of the name, but when I say it nih-KOLE-ah, all I think about is the Ricola cough drop commercials. Because of that association, I think I'd prefer the second pronuciation you have listed. I do think it's a refreshing alternative to Nicole. There's also Nicolette.
Thanks! I do like Nicolette as well.
