Opinions on Sylar?
Saw this name in the paper, today, for a little boy. I don't think I would use it, but it's an interesting alternative to Skylar. What are your thoughts?

I immediately think of Heroes and I would assume that's where they got the name from. And I only saw a couple episodes of that show. I like Skylar better.

Oh yes, the one found dead in Arizona. I say the name should also be as dead as its beholder.

Looks like an unsuccessful merger between Simon and Skylar (or, preferably, Schuyler). Which is the problem, really, for me: there we have a perfectly respectable Dutch word with a decent meaning which gets messed around until it resembles a skylark with its tail chopped off, and next along come some kry8yv twits who can't leave well alone and doom their innocent offspring to a lifetime of boring explanations. Nah.

I do like the sound, but I think people would have a tendency to accidentally read it as Skylar. That's what I did at first, I though "oh someone forgot a letter".

Sylar from the show HeroesI'm not sure if this was a name before the character on Heroes, but when I hear Sylar, I think the bad guy on Heroes. Suppose other sci-fi names have become popular but it seems a bit too associated with Sylar on Heroes to be a real name.
