Ibbie
I really love this name ( it's strictly GP to me, however), and out of all the nns for Isabella / Isabel, Ibbie is the only one I like. It's unconventional, pretty, and sounds better than Izzy, Bella etc. imo.
Which got me thinking, what other names could Ibbie be short for? Could Ibbie be a nn for Isidora, or is it too much of a stretch?
Also, are there any unconventional nns for any name you like ( like Kit for Christopher and Katherine)- I'm interested to see what other's come up with as I'm stuck in a rut and need to think out of the box a bit :)

I've seen both Libby and Liddy as nns for Elizabeth, so why not? Admittedly, Liddy was the best attempt of her slightly older siblings at pronouncing a very long and complex name ...
I've always rather fancied Tibby as a nn for Isobel and no doubt all the other names in the stable. But it's just something I've read about: I've never actually encountered one.

Yes!
It's my favorite nn for Isabel, and everybody forgets about it.
I don't think Ibbie would work for Isadora because there's no b in it. But It could work for maybe... Ibolya, Ingeborg?
OH unconventional nns are my specialty!
I'd use these in real life:
Margaret - May, Maymie (or Mae, Maemie, Mamie... not sure on spellings)
James - Jem, Jemmy
Anne - Nan, Nanny, Nanw (Welsh)
Elizabeth - Nell
Some others I like:
Abraham - Bram
Ab- boy's names - Abbey
Alexander - Sasha
Amelia - Millie
Augusta - Aggie
Bartholomew - Tolly
Bridget - Bridie, which is unconventional these days in the US
Caroline - Caddie, Caro
Christopher - Kit, Christy, Topher
Dorothy - Dodie
Ed- boy's names - Teddy
Edwin - Wynn
Emanuel - Manley
Genevieve - Ginny, Evie

Of course! I completely forgot about Sasha as a nn for Alexander, it's the only nn I feel 'matches up' to Alexander. I love Bram, but not Abraham.
These are great:
Elizabeth - Nell
Amelia - Millie
Bartholomew - Tolly
Ed- boy's names - Teddy
Genevieve - Ginny, Evie
John - Jack - I'm not a fan of John (love Jack though), but agree. I would love to see John's have the nn Jack!
Josephine - Posy
Oliver - Noll
Ramona - Romy
Fionnuala - Fia

Ibbie's kind of cute. I don't like Izzy at all, and even though I love Bella, Belle, they're pretty popular. So Ibbie would make a nice change. It could maybe be short for Ichabod, or Ingeborg. Couldn't think of anything more common, sorry.
I tend to not do nicknames for boys' names, but I have some for girls:
Aggie for Agatha
Bindy for Belinda
Kae for Katarina
Ava (ah-va) for Lavender
Lore for Lenore
Tansy for Mathilda (maybe too much of a stretch...)
Tansy for Tanith
and I've been playing with having Lyda short for something, because I like the sound. Alodia, maybe?

The only unusual ones I can think of are Sebastian, nn Ian and Magdalena, nn Nela. I usually like full names better (like: Valentin, nn Tin, Elisabeth, nn Bess, Josephine, nn Posy, Josefina, nn Finka).
Ibbie could be short for Elizabeth, Iberia, Ibolya, Ibrahima, Bibiana, Claribel, Daliborka, Dulcibella, Habiba, Liberty, Sibylla...
I think Iddie would work better for Isidora.
