Kodiak
So a friend of mine has a little brother, who I've always heard referred to as Kody. In fact, I'd assumed it was Cody. But I learned recently that his name is actually short for Kodiak.Interestingly enough, I wouldn't use it, but I don't hate it! The kid is adorable but pretty wild, so I'd say it fits him, as far as the whole grizzly-bear-associaton goes. Wdyt?

Kinda looks like a mixture of Kodak (cameras) and Zodiac. Also reminds me of coeliac.

ice-cream anyone?Makes me think of the ice-cream bars w/ the same name.
Also nms, but I think at this point I'd prefer it to Ethan, Liam, Aidan and Jacob.

hard coreI bet he killed a bear with his own hands a week after birth, didn't he. I dig it. It's Cody with a serious edge. I'm really curious as to what your friend's name is now!

All I see is Kodak...Even though I know what Kodiak is, what I actually think of is Kodak. And Kodak is a pretty depressing namesake. Kodiak I just feel is bound to be shortened to Kody. And even though I don't think Kodiak is a terrible name, I think it might be awkward on an older person. It could make an interesting middle name, though.

Same here!I wouldn't mind the whole grizzly bear thing, if Kodiak didn't look so much like Kodak.

I saw someone on another forum complaining that the only name her husband would consider for their son was Kodiak. I didn't understand the drama. Unless you are really apposed to Kody as a nn it's bound to be shortened so it's not a big deal. Personally I think Kodiak is kinda cool.
