Theda.
After some time admiring Theda Bara (born Theodosia Burr Goodman), I began to think about Theda itself, as a name. I prefer it as a nickname for Theodosia instead of Theodora, but I also like it by itself. I think it's elegant and regal, with just the right amount of a sultry feel - plus, it feels Gothic and dark, especially since it is an anagram of "death".
Overall, I was wondering what everyone else thought of Theda. So, please, do tell! (:

My great-grandmother's name!
I love it, I wish I was named it over my real name.

I like the idea of it, but when I hear it, all I can think of is the Greek letter theta.
Yes, I love the Gothic, dark, sultry, vampy quality of it too. It's similar to Zelda and other flapper-esque names for me. Love them to death (theda).
And Theodosia is so much more fun than Theodora. I'm with you there too. It reminds me of the lyrics to that band era song. "Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. A kid'll eat ivy too, wouldn't you?" (Maybe that's why my combo for it is Theodosia Ivy or Ivy Theodosia, with a nn Dosie, not that you asked.)

Love them to death (theda).
Haha, I love that little line! (: So brilliant.

That's exactly what I mean. (;
Sounds like an interesting song... Theodosia Ivy/ Ivy Theodosia is GORGEOUS! I love it, and Dosie is absolutely darling. I'm glad you took the time to mention it! -back onto topic now, LOL-

Dosie t Oats
Theda is the name of my cousin's skiddish, scardy-cat of a black lab. Because of this, I wouldn't use it, but I do see why you would use it as a nn for Theodosia.
I think it's really pretty, especially as a nn for Theodosia!
I like it and do think it can stand on its own just fine...but I really do prefer it as a nickname for Theodora.
I like it a lot, pronounced thee-da, and I love that you pointed out the Death thing. I think now I love it.
I really like it. I hadn't ever thought of it before and Theda Bara was pretty awesome ;)
Theodosia is also a favorite of mine so I love both! I do prefer Theodosia over Theodora also.

Aw, thanks, love!
I love this name.
Love, love, love, love, love.
It has such a modern feel while still having a history to it. I didn't know it was an anagram for death but that doesn't bug me. I love the sound of it, the weight of the name. I can see it on a baby up to an old woman.
Did I say I love this name?

Haha!
I'm glad you love it as much as I do! I agree about seeing it from a baby, a teenager, a young adult, middle-aged, to an old woman. ^-^
