Pretty Welsh girl's name I saw today (not in data base)
Eiriona
The signer of a letter to a newspaper - I assume it's Welsh, though her surname is English. I looks very pretty, and I wonder whether it sounds pretty too. The nearest on the BtN data base is Eirian - I wonder whether it shares the same meaning.

Gorgeous!
I'd say air-YON-a, although as Llewella said it would vary, depending on which part of Wales you're from. I haven't seen it before, although I've come across a few Eifionas. 'eirian' is a word meaning either bright or beautiful, but it could also be related to 'eira', meaning snow. The -a ending is borrowed from English, so I think I'd prefer Eirion or Eirian.
They way I would pronunce it sounds wonderful! :) that sounds funny. It is a really pretty name written out
I'd say it's pronounced ay-ree-ON-a (or ie-ree-ON-a, depending where in Wales you are) (after searching it I guess it could be ayr-YON-a or ier-YON-a, too, but that's basically the same thing).
It is Welsh-- I found it here: http://kimkat.org/amryw/1_enwau/enwau_bedydd_cymraeg_geiriadur_1_1265e.htm and also when I googled Eirion there are a few examples of it as a fn on a Welshman. But I can't find anything regarding its meaning, and perhaps it's simply unknown since it isn't even listed in that link I gave. Eiriona would just be the feminine form of Eirion.
I don't really like the sound of it, personally.
