Jewel
Boy or girl? I'm thinking it could be both because of the folk singer, and the male character from Faulkner's As I Lay Dying . WDYT? What is your general impression of the name?

It sounds feminine to me. Probably because I only know of the singer. I actually like this name and I've noticed that I toss it around quite a bit when coming up with combos. I think it has a nice sound to it. The only thing that throws me off is that it's such a word name. I feel like other people would find it cheesy and think, "oh you're naming your kid Jewel, like a jewel is pretty precious and your child...oh yes I get it *rolls eyes*" I feel like others who aren't used to hearing it as a name wouldn't think much differently if I actually named my child Precious.
Haha, okay maybe that's just me over analyzing :P

I like it, but only as a mn and only for a girl. It sounds a little wimpy for a boy imo.
For me, it's female, just because I've only knowm one person named Jewel;I went to school with her.
I think that it;s best for a girl and I don't like it. It sounds like drool

Definitely female. In my understanding, it has a long history as a female name, at least 150 years. I think it's a lovely name. :D
I think both. It acually goes a little better on a boy IMO. I wouldn't use it, but it would be cool to see. Jewelie would be a cute nn for a girl :P Well, maybe. Now that I look at it it looks a little odd.
How is Nakowl Nicole? I'm sorry, but that is one of the weirdest spellings I've ever seen.
Um Nakowl is my cousin's name.
