In Italian, and French as well I think, Dulcinea has become a common name and is a jokey term to refer to a girlfriend or lover, and I really can't get beyond that.
I love Dulcinea, with Dulcie as a nickname. :)
Nickname has got to be Dulcie, which is very dated but has a certain elegance which I associate with ballet. The only combo that springs to mind would be Dulcinea Maria ... but it's too closely linked to Don Quixote for actual use.
So sweet. I'd be so stoked to meet a little girl called Dulcinea. I like Dulcie as a nn, but Nea would work too.

"I have sought thee, sung thee, dreamed thee, Dulcinea!"
Yeah, that's the first thing I think of. The name is pretty cool though. I think it's more of a GP although it would be cool to meet one. It could be usable as a mn.
Ana Dulcinea
Dulcinea Juliet
Seraphine Dulcinea
Dulcinea Mary
nn's... Dulce, Dulcie, Nea, Cinea, Dula? I think Dulce and maybe Nea are the nn's I'd use.
(edit) and Dulcinea Christabel!

I just think of the musical "Man of La Mancha".
I really like it... but probably couldn't use it on an actual child because I know people would say or think "oh, like dulse!" when they heard it. Especially with the nn Dulcie. I imagine this would be less of a problem in places where people don't eat dulse however.
Dulcinea Melisande was really nice, whoever posted that one :) Dulcibella is fun too.

What is dulse? And if I may ask, where do you live and / or where is dulse eaten?
I live on the east coast of Canada and dulse is kind seaweed :) Personally, I don't really like it, but it's popular enough that everyone around knows what it is. You dry it out and eat it like chips, kind of.
I like it! I used to think any Dulcie name was just too sweet, but ever since I discovered Dulcibella a year or so ago, I don't mind Dulcies at all. Dulcie is so thick and syrupy, and Dulcinea is that with a regal sounding twist. It really is like candy, chocolate and caramel browns swirled together, yet it has this very sultry side to it. Dulcie really is the best and most logical nn for it. I'm looking forward to trying to make combos with it now!

I adore Dulcinea. It only just made it into the BtN database a short while ago. It used to make me puzzled as to why it wasn't in there sooner. Dulcinea is gorgeous, has wonderful literary associations and the cutest nn built in: Dulcie. What's not to love?
Fleur Dulcinea
Dulcinea Ines (that's a lot of vowel sounds together, but it still works for me)
Dulcinea Laurel
Dulcinea Sofie
Dulcinea Carys
Dulcinea Phoebe
Dulcinea Pearl (or Pearl Dulcinea)
Dulcinea Lily
Esme Dulcinea
Ivy Dulcinea
Dulcie Angharad (I know it isn't Dulcinea, but this is a fav combo)
I think it makes a better mn because of the way it builds to a crescendo at the end. But it's certainly a stunner as a fn as well.
So, are there any combos here you like, or that inspire you to another? Thanks.

It's a very sweet and frilly name, not something I'd go for but I appreciate it.
