Anastasia
I rarely see this name mentioned on this board. I was wondering why. I do like it quite a bit, and it would be an enchanting sibling for Theodora. Is it too frou-frou for a non-Russian/Greek?

It sounds good with Theodora. in the end you need to choose what you like.

I love it and would use it. I think it fits perfectly well with Theodora. I don't think it is too frou-frou.

I think it's gorgeous and could be used by whoever. However, I consider Theodora really GP.

I love this name, I think it's fantastic. And I reckon it'd work on someone of any cultural background really.

Not too frou-frou at all. I think it's gorgeous, and yes, it'd be stunning with Theodora. Annie & Dora. So sweet. My favourite combo is Anastasia Ruby, but I'm also a big fun of Anastasia Pearl, Anastasia Carys & Anastasia Lucy. Not to mention Anastasia Claire, Anastasia Lily, Anastasia Hazel, Anastasia Delphine...

I like it. I know an Anastasia who occasionally goes by Anna and an Anastacia who goes by Stacia (which just sounds like STAY-sha in my accent). I like it as a sib for Theodora, although it is a lot more fluffy and princessy.
Anastasia, as well as Jasmine, is a name I go back and forth on. Sometimes I wish it was used more often IRL, and other times I think they're too princessy. IDK.

I don't think Jasmine would seem so princessy w/out the Disney movie. I've known enough Jasmines born before the movie was made that it's hardly an association for me and therefore doesn't really make me think princess. Plus, the Jasmines I know don't have a princessy mindset.

Anastasia!!!!!!! :)My favorite girl's name! :D And it goes with Theodora. It's not too froufrou for a non-Russian/Greek. I think it's a wonderful name that can be enjoyed by anyone. It could also sound a little less 'froufrou' if you give Ana as a nn sometimes. (And one last thing, where can I put the extra six exclamation points for adoption?)

I adore Anastasia. In fact, dh and I briefly toyed with the idea while PG with Anna. I definitely don't find it too frou-frou or too ethnic, however, I was concerned that no one would use my favorite pronunciation (ah-nah-STAH-see-ah) so we went with dh's favorite, Anna because it seemed much simpler. And it was until Anna's Kindergarten teacher chose to call her AH-na for an entire year and it has stuck for good. Go figure ...Anastasia and Theodora are perfect together!

I think alot of people here like Anastasia, it's just not THE most favorite name they have. I know I adore Anastasia (buuut then again, I also have a perhaps unhealthy obsession with the Romanovs) and I think it's an awesome name on a baby these days. ♥

We must have discussed it before. The threads disappear after a few days, so you probably just missed it, or else I'm imagining talking about it. I like Anastasia. I know a girl in middle/ high school named that. Her sister is Athena. I think Anastasia and Theodora would be a fine sibset, but you may want to have a nn for each, so it doesn't seem too upper class.

I love the prn. Ah-nuh-stah-cee-uh the best
And i think Theodora, Nathalia and Anastasia would make a phenomenal sib set!

I love it, and I think it's terrific with Theodora. It's not frou-frou to me, and I think it has been completely assimilated culturally and would be fine in a family that's not Russian or Greek.

I really like the name but I don't like the English pronunciation(s). I pronounce Anastasia the Russian way.

I love Anastasia. It was my favourite girl's name for many years. It would indeed be glorious with Theodora - a lovely pair of princesses. I don't think it's too frou-frou for a non-Greek/Russian. I think it just depends on the kind of family. They've got to have a kind of restrained class or it just looks like the name of Slavic porn star. A former friend of mine once liked the name Anastasia too but I prayed she would not use it. She later named her daughter Kaydance. In her case, her choice of Anastasia would have looked really flaky.

I love the name Anastasia! I do sometimes wonder if it is on the grand side to American or English ears -- but I don't think it is over the line. It is smashing when paired with Theodora. Both have really wonderful meanings and histories too, especially if you are religious.

I love Anastasia because it's dark and mysteriously beautiful. I think Theodora and Anastasia make quite an enchanting sibset. :)No, I don't think it's too frou-frou, and I think it's fine for a non-Russian/Greek to use. Ever hear of the Anastasia Krupnik series by a writer named Lois Lowry? It's a series of kids books, and a quirky, off-beat girl named Anastasia is the heroine. So I think it can be pulled off by a regular girl just because of her.

Anastasia dark?Somehow the idea of dark and resurrection don't fit together in my mind... It's extremely bright and happy in my mind. Elegant perhaps, but happy.

I think it's a rather nice name. I don't totally love it, but it's a name to be respected. It's strong and regal. I think it would go quite well with Theodora. It seems perfectly fine for a non-Russian/Greek person. The only one I know is very non-Russian/Greek.

I put it in combos from time to time. It's one of the names I might consider to honor my grandmother Ana (but Anika is currently wining).
I just dislike the English pronunciation, so I don't mention it to other people here that often.

I don't like it.
I think it is too frilly, girly and too long. Not to mention that it doesn't have any nice nicknames.

If I saw two little sisters called Theodora and Anastasia, I would totally swoon. It is a bit frou-frou, but also gorgeous, so who cares.

I love the name Anastasia, it's so elegant, old, and classy. However, I don't know that I like it very much with Theodora, sorry. But it's pretty.

I love Anastasia, especially with the nn 'Anya'.I think it's fine to use. I think it crosses ethnic/culture/language barriers pretty well.

Anastasia is known well enough that you could use it without being Russian or Greek. I think Anastasia and Theodora make a wonderful sibset!

I know an Anastasia, who usually goes by Ana. I always liked it. Ana and Dora (or Ana and Tedo) sound nice to me for a pair of nns.

I like Anastasia, and I think it complements Theodora magnificently. Also, I certainly don't think it's unusable for someone of neither Russian nor Greek ancestry.

Anastasia is gorgeous and has plenty of non-frou-frou nns, like Anna, Annie, Anya, Stasia, or even Stacey.I do feel, however, that Anastasia and Theodora in the same sibset are a bit much, unless both girls go by nns.
