It's difficult to set The Color Purple aside when it's my only association with the name, but I'll try. I wouldn't be particularly pleased to meet a little Celie. It sounds too much like a nickname for my tastes, and it fits in too well with one of my least favorite trends--meaningless, lightweight, "bell tones"...the Breelys, Kaylees, and the like.
