*yawn*... pleasant enough though and not annoying like some of the super-popular ones. I do prefer it to Lily and Sophia... both of which I'm extremely tired of... as I was w/ Amelia a few years ago. (After all these years, it STILL makes me think of Amelia B'delia... sp?) It is clearly a girls' name w/out being excessively sappy though and that gives it lots of points in its favour.

My grandmother used to say that naming a child Violet was a guarantee that she'd be loud and flat-footed, striding through life with a rasping voice and creaking corsets. And my mother had a friend named Elsie Violet who was always and only known as Toni.

I've always loved it.

violets are my favorite flowers, and even though "violent" sounds kind of like "violent," I've always liked the name.

It's lovely, but its popularity upsets me.

It's getting popular really fast. :/ I like Violetta better, even though Violet's a tiny bit better for real life, and it's a little cutesy and really pretty.
