Ziggy?
I've been really loving the name Ziggy lately. I think it's far enough removed from the 70s that people won't think of a short round bald guy in a cartoon... I'm not a big fan of Zigmund or Zigfried... what about as a nick for Isaac?

Only if you kept it as a nickname. Good for Isaac. Just imagine the different stages in his life...
I wasn't alive in the 70's, or even the 80's, and it still makes me think of the comic. Reminds of premade salads too. Like Ziggy's potato salad?
Isaac is nice though, and I can see it as an occasional nn.

It reminds me of Ziggy Marley, rather than the cartoon.
I guess it could work as a nickname. It still makes me think of the comic
Aside from Ziggy Stardust, I always think of the chimpanzee at the local zoo, who was named Ziggy. I also think of Sam's computer from "Quantum Leap" and the little cartoon guy who looks like Evan Handler. It's a cute NN, though, and it could work for Isaac. Why not?
Ziggy reminds me of Ziggy Marley (actually David Nesta Marley), whom I love! So, my connotations are really positive, but I think Ziggy sounds odd in a really funny way and a little frumpy, too.
I would not name my kid Ziggy but I think it is okay to call your kid sometimes Ziggy if his name is Isaac (wonderful name!).

I recently met a 5 year old boy whose full name was Ziggy. It's kind of cute but nms. I like it more as a nn for Isaac, I think that works.
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
Zigmund and Zigfried are okay, but Isaac is pretty far from Ziggy.

I don't know, I still think of the comic strip.
me too... and it was still popular in the 80s and 90s
so it really isn't that far removed... a lot of adults in N. Am will think of the comic strip dude.
