How do you pronounce Laurel?
I have heard different pronunciations of the first syllable of Laurel. I have heard it rhyme with "or" and also with "are." How do you pronounce it? Thanks.

My moms name is Laurel and she pronounces it with the "or" sound, much like the beginning syllables of Laura or Lori

"Lorrel"Like the beginning of Laurence, not Laura.

LOHR-əlI think saying it LAWR-əl just sounds like someone with a Southern or Western/California accent.

depends on the person and preference. Until a few yrs. ago, I was only familiar w/ it w/ the emphasis on the 1st syl, in which case it would sound kinda like lo, but 1 of my good friends prn. it more like Laurelle w/ the emphasis on the 2nd syl. and it's somewhere btw. o and aw. I personally thinkk the Laurelle prn. sounds like it has more class to it.
