What is your favorite English nickname for Elizabeth?
Which nickname is your favorite? Or do you prefer Elizabeth?

Beth is probably my favorite now, though for a while I really liked Liz Beth. I also have a soft spot for Betty, because that's what my grandma's called. I want to name one of my daughters Elizabeth Susan, after my grandmothers. I would use Beth but perhaps once in a while I would call her Betty Sue.Lily always seemed odd for a nickname for Elizabeth; I prefer it on its own.

Ellie or LibbyEllie I love as a nickname, closely followed by Libby then Elise. Ellie would also be honoring my cousin. Elizabeth right now is in my top 5, and if I were to name my daughter that, then she would most likely go by Elizabeth most of the time.

Depends on the girl but I like Beth, Lizzie and Lizbeth.

I would love to hear of an Elizabeth simply called Elizabeth. But I like Beth, Betsy, Elsie... actually pretty much anything but Liz and Lizzie.

I know an Elizabeth who is mostly called Elizabeth. She has siblings named Michael (don't know on nickname), Eleanor (Ellie), Madeline (Maddie, not sure on spelling of full name), Esther (no nickname), and Samuel (Sam).

I actually prefer the nicknames to the actual name itself. I like Beth and Betty.

Lilibet or Lily

Elsie, hands down.Elsie, then Elsa, then Bess, then Bessie, then Bette, then Betty, then a tie between Betsy and Libby, then Lee, then Lily. :-)

Ellie or Elle, which probably carries over from my general love of "El-" names. Elizabeth on its own is good too.

Elise ♥, then Libby, then Eliza

Betsey/Betsy.Cute as a bug! I like either spelling. Though I do like Elizabeth on its own.

I love Elizabeth in full, but I also love a lot of its nicknames. My sister is named Elizabeth, and she goes by Beattie. This sort of just happened, and it's not my favorite, but I like it for her.My favorite nickname is Eliza, definitely. However, I also really love Lizzie and like Betsy, Bess, Libby and Beth.

My favorite is Lizzie or Beth or Betsy.

Elise, Lisa, Liz.

Libby. I love Elizabeth but it will inevitably become Liz or Lizzie if preemptive action isn't taken, so Libby would be my choice.
Betsi - the Welsh form of Betsy - would be runner-up.

Beth or Izzy! Love them both.

Eliza, Elsie, Elise or just plain Elizabeth

Bess, Eliza and LizaVintage gems!

BettyI am putting in a vote for Betty, which I think has retro type charm and is due for a comeback. My least favorite is Liz. Yuk! Liz is why I probably wouldn't use Elizabeth.

Ditto on Betty having a kind of retro charm. I'm surprised it hasn't come back already.

Eliza *on a laptop so can't do a heart*=)

Betsy and Betty. I actually like Eliza best, but would probably use it as a stand-alone name.

NellWhich isn't traditionally used for it, but could certainly work for the same reason it's used for Helen, Ellen, or Eleanor. My second favorite is Lizzie, and others I like are Ellie, Beth, Bess, Libby, and Lily.Oh, and I don't really count Effie as a nn for it, but I have heard of it used. If I counted it, it would be my favorite.
vote up1
I'd use Elizabeth in full, but I like Bess and Ellie as nicknames.
vote up1
BessI MUCH prefer the nns for Elizabeth to the name itself. My fave English nn is Bess followed by Betsy and Ellie. For Elisabeth, I like Elisa, Elise, Elsa and Liese.
vote up1
I prefer Elizabeth. Beth and Betsy are ok as nns. Lisa's ok too, though I kinda think of it as its own name more than as a nn for Elizabeth.

Lizzie.:)

Elise

I love Bess/ie although here people say it sounds like a cow's name.

ElizaI feel like it has both spunk and romantic charm. Of course, if I used Eliza I'd probably just use it on its own rather than as a nn; nothing against Elizabeth, but I think Eliza is capable of standing on its own and I'd exclusively call any daughter of mine named Elizabeth "Eliza," anyhow.
vote up1
BessI like Elizabeth (and Elisabeth) without a nickname too but I would definitely use Bess a lot of the time.
vote up1
Bess.Followed by Betty.I dislike Liz, Lizzie and Beth.
vote up1
Betty!! but more modern prob Libby
vote up1
I prefer the spelling Elisabeth. I don't mind Bessie.
vote up1
I love Libby, and quite like most other nns I can think of - Ella, Eliza, Lizzy, Beth...S xx

I prefer just Elizabeth. :)
