Dated like crazy, but that makes them seem less childish, rather than just "old." Bruce was my dad's name (born 1938 before the height of its popularity, so I guess my grandma was a cutting edge namer) and it is also my son's middle name. I don't generally like B names and Bruce has some negative stereotypes attached, but whatever. I like the roo sound pretty much everywhere I find it. I think Harold is alright - I'm pretty neutral about it.

My dad has 2 cousins (sisters), one married a Bruce and the other married a Harold. Strange!
I have a soft spot for Bruce (as I really like my dad's cousin's husband), but I'd have a very difficult time seeing it on a child.
Harold... I think it has a nicer sound than Bruce, but I'm not as keen on it.

I adore Bruce because Bruce Springsteen is my third favorite singer.

Harold is just darling, I love it.

I think I could probably warm up to Bruce on the right person. It's got a lot of good history. Harold (and Harald) is great, but I'm very bored with Harry, which seems kind of inevitable.

I love both names, and I'll probably add them to my PNL very soon.

They make me think of middle aged or older men sitting around telling hunting and fishing stories or wandering around w/ toolbelts trying to fix things and in desperate need of some suspenders to keep their pants up. Bruce is bearable, but not overly attractive. Harold has never struck me as attractive, but if it has meaning for you, you could always use it as a mn. Could use Bruce as an mn too... for similar reasons.

Bruce I'm iffy on, it always brings to mind the word bruise. However I could easily grow to love it. In fact the more I say it, the more I like it.
