The pronunciations of Shan- are different so it may be awkward to make work. I probably wouldn't try it irl.
Shannon doesn't need a nickname. I never saw the point in giving nicknames with the same number of syllables as the original name...
Sometimes it's not about having a shorter version of the name, but just a cute term of endearment. So a diminuative, basically. In some cases nicknames are even longer than the original name!
I don't. My name is Shannon, and that's one nickname that has been suggested to me when I complain about not having any nicknames. And I have been called that on occasion, anyway. I just don't like the sound.
