Elias and Silas
First of all, how would you pronounce Elias?
In our family we pronounce it eh-LIE-as, but I constantly hear it pronounced similiar to eh-LEE-as?Also do you think Elias and Silas are too close to use for brothers?

I will say it both ways depending on the person, but I prefer eh-LEE-ahs. I do think Elias and Silas are too similar for brothers.

I say eh-LIE-as, but my DH has an uncle with this name and the Syrian way to pronounce it is EEL-ee-as.I wouldn't use Elias and Silas as brothers names, no. They are too close imo.

I pronounce Elias eh-LIE-as, but I've heard it pronounced eh-LEE-ahs as well. The only people I've encountered who have pronounced their name eh-LEE-ahs have been European though.Elias and Silas are too close for brothers, but I like both names. I especially love Silas.

I would pronounce it as you do, and it's how the only Elias I know of says his name (although he usually goes by Lee). I think Elias and Silas seems like a matchy sibset. I love both names (though Silas is my favourite) yet I wouldn't use them together.

Yes, Elias and Silas are too close for brothers. Out of the two I really prefer Silas. Elias is dull and way to common. Elias got the same feel as Emma.

I pronouce it as you do, in your family. I find them a bit close in sound for brothers. Wouldn't pass the "Yell from one end of the house to the other" test. Paul and Silas?

I say eh-LIE-as.
I think they are too close for brothers because they are rather rhymey, even if you say eh-LEE-as.I like Elias better than Silas, by the way. Both are good though.
