Jane
Jane is a favorite name of mine and I used to swear I would use it as a name for my first daughter. I'm not sure now...I would be using the name Jane after Jane Bennet my favorite character in Pride and Prejudice. So what is your impression of the name Jane?

I absolutely love Jane. If I didn't plan on using John as a middle name, I'd totally use it. It makes me think of someone sweet, appropriately tough and maybe a little artsy.

To be honest, I don't like. I think it's too old and just too classis for my liking. It is nice and sweet but I think it's rather dated.

Simple and sensible... not overdone at present. Not a fave, but likable enough. Makes a great mn.
I'd throw in some combo ideas, but you didn't ask for any, so I don't know if you actually want them.

Brilliant name, too often wasted in the mn position. Jane Bennett is a wonderful person, as is Jane Eyre actually! Go for it.

It's my middle name! :) I enjoy it.

I actually love it! It's just a beautiful, classic name that will always sound gorgeous imo. I love the Pride and Prejudice connection too, very sweet.

A good name.
Perhaps I like it, as it's not far off my own name, Jean.

It's nice a sweet.

I think it's a lovely name. It's so simple but sophisticated and wonderfully 18th century. Jane Bennett, exactly. I'd love to see a little Jane.

I really love Jane. It is so simple and sweet. I know many people feel its very generic but I have only known a handful of Janes and the two I know well are so larger than life and such beautiful people that I can't possibly see their name as boring.

A sweet name. It's one of my favorites. I'd probably use it for a mn or the second part of a double name.

I adore Jane and I think it is underused as a first name. Jane is refreshing, yet still sweet and rather adorable.

I like Jane, and I think it has more personality than people give it credit for. Jane is independent, sassy, and ambitious in my eyes.

Boring, generic, says nothing, no personality.

I can't imagine thinking of Jane as boring! It must be a generational thing, though. I only ever knew one Jane and I went to one of the largest schools in my country, so it always has seemed nice and underused to me.

No, I don't believe it's a generational thing. There was only one Jane in my high school. Although I am quite a bit older than most of the posters here, Jane wasn't particularly popular at the time of my birth, either. It's just a personal opinion. I'm very aware that Jane is not widely given as a first name these days and hasn't been for a long while. Nevertheless, because it was so widely used for so long, centuries and centuries, it can't escape a boring, generic image for me.My name is a form of Jane, but I'd rather have my name than Jane. I couldn't abide being called Jane.

I love Jane, which I regard as an exemplar of elegant simplicity.

I love Jane. It's sweet and not common nowadays.

It's a nice name, but not one I'd use due to two bad associations. In fact, I've never met a Jane I have liked, but I do find the name appealing on paper.Jane Olivia is lovely.

I love it. Jane Austen, Jane Bennett, and Jane (my pastor who died of cancer last year) are the associations I have with the name. Hearing it makes me feel peaceful.
