I think it is hideous but I don't see it as an old lady name. I actually have known four Dorises, who would be 17-20 now. I know of more than that though who are quite young. It is reasonably common among Pacific Islander girls, and daughters of immigrants from some Asian countries. One Doris I knew came from an Egyptian family- her brother was named Fady which is a pretty common name among Arabic families so I always thought Doris was random.
