Re: Isobel???

Isobel's a rather common spelling these days (in England anyway), but I find it quite unattractive (kinda makes my skin crawl just looking at it)... The only spelling I actually like for this name is Isabelle. I admit it's not 1 of my faves and until recently has had more of an old lady image for me. It's really not THAT unique these days if you look at the popularity listings. Whether in the UK or Canada or the States or Aus., you're bound to find at LEAST 1 of the 3 spellings of the name in the top 100 AS WELL AS Isabella (which also has more than 1 possible spelling)and really isn't all that different and is just another form of the same name at its roots. In face, when I looked at the popularities, the UK had ALL 3 spellings in the top 60... PLUS Isabella. Thus, it's more common than you may realize... enough that some people would be tired of it already... not that you can't use it. Just don't assume you're using an uncommon name 'cause it's super-common right now.
