Chester
Come on you guys. Is it really that horrible and cruel? I told my bff that I really like Chester for a boy - it's familiar yet fresh, friendly, cozy and kind-sounding (something I really enjoy in names), simple and unpretentious yet would stand out on a class roster. I think the sibset Pearl and Chester would be BEYOND adorable. But my friend thinks it is atrocious and is like naming my child "Please Beat Me Up Jones". I said if the kid really hated it, we could call him Chaz or Ches, but she still made terrible faces at me.SADFACE. Is Chester terrible??Here are my fave Chester combos for those who might be interestedChester Frederick
Chester Wallace
Chester Geoffrey
Chester Francis (too super-geeky? Francis is a family name)that's all I've come up with so far because I am superbummed.

How weird. I know a kid named Chester and as far as I know he hasn't been teased or anything about it. His name is Winston Chester Surname "Chester," but lately he's taken to calling himself Winchester. heh heh

Chester Frederick is very nice! A good mix of geeky chic and quirky classic! I don't think Chester is really that bad at all! Maybe because of Chester Bennington the lead singer of the band Linkin Park! He is not geeky at all!

I don't think it awful, but I find the "chest" sound to be unattractive. It's not too friendly and kind to me, though. It's more obnoxious, dull, and shady. That's because I went to school with a kid named Chester nn Chet. He wasn't actually shady, but lots of people called him Chester the Child Molester. :( So yeah, I can't disconnect it with that. But! Chester Francis is a great combo.

I know one Chester. He's this big hoodlum-ish guy, He goes by Chet. He has a younger brother named Daniel Dakota. I only know his middle name because that's what Chet calls him. Hm..I think their dad's name is Callum, but I don't remember. It's been a while.I adore Chester and Chester Francis looks like he needs a hug for being adorable.

*sob*Thank you for your awesomeness!! I need a big hug too after all this Chester-barfing. Ohhh my poor Chester.Chet is good. Nice and hoodlumish if Chester is not nearly boorish enough for one.

My loves Eugene and Ernest get beat up like your Chester. Sadly, Chester and Eugene are the default nerd names. :(

It reminds me of the phrase "Chester the Molester" (wasn't that an underground cartoon character, originally?).

I agree with your friend. It's silly and nerdy.

Sorry but I really really dislike this name. My husband's friend goes by this name. (It's his last name) and I always cringe when I hear it. It sounds unattractive and makes me think of a creepy old man. His friend is neither of those things, but I still can't shake the imagery. Chester Frederick is the best of what you have listed.

Chester wants cheese! :P Umm..yeah, chester makes me think of cheese. And yes, it's that horrible and cruel. Charles nn Chester or something would be better. All the combos are super-geeky actually. What about Chester Atticus? Chester Thomas, Chester Daniel, Chester Theodore?

Chester Theodore is really nice. Those combos are my faves because they have significance (except Frederick).

Well, there was a cartoon strip back in the day called "Chester the Molester", so I don't think it's the best name for a real person.I like it well enough, but I can't disassociate it from that character. I believe the strip ran in "Hustler", but I could be wrong.Chester Frederick is the only combo I like.
