Jane or Joanna?
Which do you prefer between Jane (Janie) and Joanna?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I like them both about equally, but in different contexts. Without knowing the ln, I really couldn't choose.
Joanna
I like Jane and it is my style, but due to experiences with two rather bad Janes in my life, Joanna wins. It's also one of my best friend's daughters names.

I'm a little torn. Although I like the sound of Jane, it reminds me of a clean house with white walls, a white picket fence, and fresh-pressed linens, which isn't really me, but Janie is a lively nickname. I've always liked Janie.
Joanna is a pretty name and more melodious than Jane, but I'm not too keen on the idea of using Jo or Anna as a nickname. Annie is cute though. The only problem is that I used to have a pet named Annie and now my grandparents have a dog named Annie, so I probably wouldn't use Annie as a nickname. Joanna doesn't necessarily need a nickname, but people in my family would unfortunately use one, so I'd probably want to have one handy so that they wouldn't use Jo.
In short, I think I'd go with Jane and call her Janie most of the name. I'd also pair it with a zesty middle name like Zinovia.

Well. I have gone on record as having the same opinion about Jane that I do about Mary, namely, that it's too generic and says nothing, and I would never use it for that reason. However, I greatly dislike Joanna, though not quite as much as I do Joanne. So I would say of the two, Jane.
Jane.
