Talisman
A woman got a card at work today. She is 25 and her name is Talisman. I like the idea of it, but it seems a little odd to use on a girl.

I agree. I think it's very nice, especially as word names go, but I'd use it on a boy.
I don't get it. It's just a random word to me. I don't know why anyone would think to use Talisman as a name.
It's got a very pretty sound. I can see the appeal - it's got the word "man" in it, but it's still very silvery and feminine. I reminds me of the names Carmen and Alison, which both have male words in there and yet are still female names.
If I had a Talisman, I'd call her Tally, or Alis. Alis would be pretty.
