I'd have seven, since the community would be responsible for their welfare and mine. And I'd give them really astonishing names:

(b) Claud
(b) Brett
(g) Pat
(g) Sandi
(g) Minnie
(g) Brenda

This will ensure their anonymity when working away from home.

I'd have three because the number three is more symbolic and magical.

Two boys and a girl. Alonzo, Erasmus, and Aferdita.
