Isambard
After British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Usable? Nice? Totally silly? Possibly fun as a middle name, perhaps with the first name Thomas, after another favourite engineer, Thomas Telford?

I keep wanting to say Islamabad for some reason when I see it. It sounds silly to me.

I kind of like it, as it sounds like a fussy old medieval name, which I love, but it's too much to use, even as a mn.

whooaaIsambard Kingdom Brunel is like the most kick-ass name I have ever ever seen. I think you should use the whole thing. Isambard Kingdom Brunel Surname. Or Isambard Kingdom Brunel Thomas Surname. Yeah man, that kid will rule the school. What is Isambard from? Is it a cultural name? So neat. I keep saying it "is-amma-bard" in my head though, which is wrong I know. How do you say it?So cool.

In English it's pronounced IS-am-bard. Isambard KB - yup, totally awesome combo there - got it from his French daddy, but apparently it comes originally from an Old German name, Isanberht, meaning something like bright iron. Kind of appropriate for an engineer. Kingdom was his mother's maiden name, I think. I actually really like the sound of Brunel as a first name. Don't think I could use it though.

I thought the title said Isengard when I first saw it!It's interesting. I'd like to know more about it before I decide whether it's ridiculous.

LOL @ Isengard! Isambard is French, apparently originally Old German from Isenberht, meaning something like 'bright iron'.

Rather Isambard than Kingdom! Definitely doable in the mn slot, and Thomas is a good and meaningful addition.Isambard. Phillip Pullman's armoured bears live in the imagination, and if Isambard is anything, it's an armoured badger. Oh, yes.
