Re: Daniel

I've always enjoyed Daniel. Danny is foul and vile, but Dan is brisk and energetic and nice. Daniel was a family name in my DH's paternal line: they used to give sons an H name (Herbert and Harold; possibly others) and Daniel as a mn, but they were always known by Daniel. Odd habit. Given a few extra sons, I'd have used Daniel eagerly, though probably without the H name.
Tradition is a good reason. It's never been out of use; everyone can spell and pronounce it easily; and who can resist those biblical lions?
