Croix
Saw a baby named this on Facebook. I'm not sure how I feel. I like the look. But I am pretty sure I would mispronounce this name a hundred ways to sunday and still never get it right. Crocs? Craw? Cwawks (like "croissant")? Kroyks?
How do YOU feel about it?
but dang I like how it looks. How fun.

I would imagine it would be pronounced something like 'cwa', considering the pronunciation of Lacroix.
I think its kind of cute actually - maybe it was the mother's maiden name or a family name? I wouldn't personally use it but it looks kind of cute.

Croix is (originally) French and pronounced kroo-ah (the R is not pronounced the English/American way though)
I'm not too fond of names meaning cross but I kind of like the look of it. Not sure I like the sound though.

What a strange name, I wonder if it comes from a surname or maybe has some religious related meaning. What is their background?
I do like it pronounced Croy, definitely more elegant (and pronouncable!) than "Crwa". I agree there is something visually attractive about it... it's funny, I could never have imagined the potential for a name behind this word!

The St. Croix River is on the Wisconsin Minnesota border. We pronounce it /kroi/.
It means "cross" in French and is pronounced "kwah." There is also an island in the Caribbean called St. Croix, but many people pronounce it St. "Croy," which is rather funny to me.
I think it's pronounced like croy. A friend of mine was from a place called St. Croix and she pronounced it croy.
That sounds like a good pronunciation for such a name. Nifty.
