Bess / Bessie
What are your thoughts on the girl names Bess and Bessie? Bessie is familial for me (great-aunts Anne and Bessie), and I've only just started to even look at it. Any thoughts?

I love Bess, as a given name or nickname (preferably for Beatrice).Bessie is sweet, too, as an occasional nickname.

Bess is my favorite nickname for Elisabeth. Not a fan of it as a full name.

I adore Bess. It's one of the (if not THE) best nns of Elizabeth. I wish I could have used it but with my surname -- no. Bessie, otoh, is very bovine-esque, imo.

It reminds me of a cow. It seems like it's a name someone would use on an animal. That doesn't make it a bad name, but to me I could probably never use it. Also, it seems a bit old-fashioned and dated to me.

I haven't made my mind up about Bessie, but I adore Bess! If we have a daughter someday, there is a good chance her name will be Louisa Bess.

I much prefer Bess to Bessie - Bessie is just to prissy for my liking - sorry, i do like Bess though.

I really like Bess. It's so friendly, pert and cute, with a bit of streetwise edge to it. Bessie I like less, it's nearing overboard cutesy and it's more limp than Bess. I like it, but I think I'd use it for a pet rather than a person. I would still think it was wicked cool to met a little Bessie though.I actually like Bess in full more than Elizabeth nn Bess. Bess is more interesting for me. Same goes for Bessie. Elizabeth is growing on me, but it's not quite there yet.
