'American' names
To you, what is a very American feeling feminine name? I'm looking to name a character who was born in 1960s/70s.
So far I have Nancy and Karen, but I'm not sure either suits. Any other suggestions?

To me American names are names that are hardly used in Europe and if so not on the same gender. They don't need to be American in origin, though. So to me Karen wouldn't be one of them. Nancy...hmmm not sure.
I'd say: Lindsey, Lindsay, Kelly, Jody, Jamie, Tracy, Stacy, Robin.
I'm German and -ey names on girls always sounded very American to me. For this generation or the 90s I'd say Kelsey, Ashley, Ainsley, Ashby, Courtney, Kaylee and Hayley sound very American.
Or because she was born in the 60s/70s maybe something like Dawn or Misty.

For the 60s, I'd go with Cindy, Sandra, Lisa, Sherri, Barbra, Sheila, Suzanne, Louise, or something along those lines.
For the 70s, it's more the beginnings of the Sarah, Stacy, and Michelle trend, at least where I live...
