Thora?
I was wondering what you thought of the name Thora? I really quite like it. I also like the meaning "Thunder goddess".
Thanks in advance!

Sad situation, but lovely names.
I don't like the sound of it, and it reminds me of 'thorax'.
I would love to see it on a person :)
I love it, but...
I wouldn't say it means "thunder goddess".
Thora is the feminine version of Thor who was the god of war, thunder and strength. But that doesn't make Thora a thunder goddess. The closest you can get to that meaning is Thordis (Thor's goddess). Dís = goddess.

I found this meaning on another site.
It doesn't mean that it's correct.
Sigrid is just pointing out the etymology behind the name, nothing else.

I know. I was just saying thats where I got it from, so I wasn't just making it up.
I find Thora stunning. It's very strong as well, and has a lovely image for me. (:
I don't mind it.
Pretty name!!!
Strong but pretty...I love it. It makes me think of Thora Birch.

I really like Thora.
Ditto
I like the way Thora looks and I like its meaning, however, I just can't get over how similar it is to the words 'thorax' or 'thoracic.'
I really like Thora. Just keep in mind that in Germany it would be pronounced like Torah, the Jewish holy book. That may or may not be a problem to you. I assume you would pronounce the TH.
Yes I would.
