I'm not sure when my love affair started with the name, but I am really, really digging it right now. Thoughts? I also love Jeannette. Which do you guys like better?A few others:Joan: This is a long-time love.
Mae - as a first nameMargaret Helen nn MaeOther ideas? I'm kinda of bored with my favorites right now.

Janet's ok, though I can't say I'm a big fan. I think this spelling is better than Jeannette, which is a bit fussy. Joan bores me, and I prefer May to Mae.
I'm also not a fan of Margaret, though I don't dislike it as strongly as I did (maybe because everyone here seems to love it?) but I find Helen lovely.

I prefer Janet to Jeannette for reasons of rhythm and general tidiness; also there are more Jeannettes where I live than Janets. Janet has two images for me: Scottish country, and young nineteen-fifties sunshine housewife with new appliances and pretty babies and puppies. Both good!Joan ... I'd like to like it better, but the sound isn't good. Groan, moan, stone, Joan. Far preferable to Joanne but not as good as Joanna.Mae. No. I just don't know why people use Mae and indeed Fae when May and Fay look so much more authentic. May as a fn is fine!Margaret Helen is a gorgeous combo, like early Scottish royalty. Mae is a bit of a stretch, but not impossible - however, modern Margarets have to be very strong-willed to avoid the knee-jerk Maggie response.
