Purdie
I didn't even know that this was a name. I feel like a hillbilly just pronouncing it;"Aw shucks, hyuck hyuck hyuck, this shore is a perty name, ain't it? Ah'll be doggonned, mah daughter'll be the belle of Appalachia!"

It is, or perhaps was, a rather upmarket kind of handgun. Which is where the New Avengers character got it from, it is said. But my first thought is my nephew's late and very much lamented Border Collie; a very good dog indeed.

I can't help but think of that stupid way of pronouncing "pretty", as in, "it's purdy!". So yeah, I'm not a fan.

I've heard it before, I'm sure. Not on a real person! But I swear I've read a book that had a character named Purdie. Or maybe I saw a movie that had a character named Purdie. Whatever, I've heard it.Hey, I don't think it's any more ridiculous than Poppy. Maybe Purdie will catch on in Britain.

I didn't know this was a name either. I agree with the hillbilly thing.

PurdeyAll I can think of is Purdey from daft 70s British action series the New Avengers, played by Joanna Lumley (as in Patsy from Ab Fab). She had a fetching bowl cut, and was known for fight scenes in a leotard and outrageously high heels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtFNlKC3eXM

Uh, ok?There are lots of names I'm sure you never thought of out there. That's what makes them fun.Purdie is cute. I actually enjoy it quite a bit. Wouldn't use it, but definitely a fun name. Well, I might use it, it strikes me as a supercute puppy name. Especially on a wrinkly or sad-face puppy. Like a Basset Hound!

My cousin's fat pony is named Purdie. She's funny; pretty, but lazy and stubborn too :P
Quite a character!
