It seems quite old fashioned to me but that's probably because that's the only associations I have with it. In my nana's old peoples home, several women have been there called Daphne, so that's the image I get. But I do think it's very pretty, and would be cute on a girl born today. I think it's ready for a revival.

I've never cared for it. It seems too cutesy and kind of reminds me of the word "daft". I also dislike the possible nickname of Daffy although she probably wouldn't be called that anyways.

It makes me think of Scooby Doo. It also makes me think of the word "daffy", like looney.

I love it. It's cute and quirky. A perfect name for someone who wants something different but not too unusual.

Sorry, but Daphne is among my least favorite names. :-( I know it's an ancient classic, but it just makes me think of the word "daft" and Daffy Duck. It also sounds too cutesy (same with Phoebe).

I like it a lot. I only somewhat associate it with Scooby Doo. It was also the name of a character on a tv show I loved (Queer As Folk), but I don't have a real "impression" of how a Daphne should look or act. Actually, I associate with other Greek names ending in an -ee sound, and when I see Daphne, I also think of Phoebe and Chloe (though as a sibset they'd be much too cutesy imo).

I think Daphne's gorgeous. While I do think of Scooby Doo, that's a good association--it's a fun show. I watched it every day when I was little!I think Daphne would sound nice with either a one-syllable or a three syllable middle name. Daphne Fern and Daphne Georgina come to mind.Array

Daphne is a classic name from Greek MythologyDaphne is pretty and I think of the famous myth, not of Scooby Doo. I did not watch Scooby Doo, and I doubt that it would have made such a life-long impression on me."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

Since it is a seldom-heard name in the US, but since most of us are familiar with Scooby Doo, I'm not surprised that most of us who are Americans associate it with that show.

It's pretty and soft sounding. Of course I think of Daphne from "Scooby Doo".

I agree with the others, Daphne has strong a Scooby-Doo association for me. -Amy-

I picture Daphne rubbing her hands on the ground saying, "Where're my glasses...I can't find my glasses." Sorry, the name just screams Scooby Doo.

Daphne didn't have glasses...that was Velma. lol______________________

I either think of Scooby-dooby-doo! or a wonderful woman I once knew...She was a sweetheart, so I guess that's mainly what I think of. lol______________________

Reminds me of Scooby-Doo too much for me to picture a Daphne as anything other than ditzy and redheaded. Nms.--

It reminds me of Scooby Doo!!! Which is not a bad thing! But anyways.. I think it is cute although I would never use it myself."Never make someone a priority, who only makes you an option."
