I think either Ella or Lena would work as nns for Helena. I like Ella best. My dad had a great aunt named Zoe Helena and she always went by Ellie or Ellen.

Helena is a beautiful name. I'd rather see you use Lena since Ella is overused.

I absolutely ADORE the name Helena. I also love Helen. I am always torn between these two names. I really don't like any nicknames for it.

Helena is a beautiful name, and while I don't think it is necessary to have a nickname for it, I do like Lena : )

I love the name Helena! It's so pretty and with the nn Lena it would be just beautiful! I prefer Lena because Ella has become rather popular as a first name.Image hosted by Photobucket.comBunny, Gigi, Chloris, Wilma, Darleen, Eartha

I used to think it was horrible, but I've been seeing it on this site more often and it's moved into my ok category. I also recently met a young woman named Helena (Ha-LAYN-uh), and it changed my opinion a little bit more.
I'd be concerned that it's on the way up in popularity, which would make me avoid it as a child's name.

I like Helena a lot. I think it's long and feminine without being all frilly and saccharine. I don't care for the name Ella in general but I think Lena is cute. It's one of the nicknames I like for one of my favorite names, Magdalena.
