As a nn, that is. I like it enough I wouldn't hate seeing it on its own, but I'm a stickler for formal names. It's just such a kind but strong name, and I love the sound. Plus there are a few literary things I associate it with that I like. James nn Jamie is at the top of my list, and DH likes James but I've yet to convince him that Jamie is awesome. He thinks it's too girly.
