Salome
New_Chloe suggested Salome as a MN in my Bernadette thread, and I love it! It is pretty, recognizable but not overused, and it has a wonderful meaning, which I tend to like. It is just the sort of thing I look for in a MN.
I do have a question about prn, though. According to BtN here, it is sa-LOH-mee (which kind of reminds me of salami, and I don't really care for it). I've actually never heard it prn this way, though. Whenever I've heard it (never on a "real" person, just in reference to the Biblical characters), I have always heard something more like SAH-loh-may. It seems in the comments that others are familiar with the -may ending. Have you heard it that way? How do you prn it?
Also... any combo suggestions with it as a MN?
Thanks!
+ Sorry I posted back to back, but the topics are sufficiently diverse, I think, for each to warrant its own space.

I say Sal-o-mee. In French(like the Wilde play) I say Sal-o-may. I like it - it's a GP.
I've heard it pronounced both ZAH-loh-may (German) and zah-loh-MAY (French). I've never heard the stress on the second syllable but that might be the English / American pronunciation...
I've only heard it prn SAA-loh-may or SAH-loh-may. I think if I were to use, I'd be tempted to prn it suh-LOHM. That way it would sound more like Shalom, a name I find to be quite beautiful.
I am so glad you liked it!
I am definitely more familiar with your pronunciation. I also admit to purposefully liking to say it "sa-LOME", like the word "shalom". But I know that is incorrect. It's a GP pronunciation :)
I think that most people will probably mispronounce it as "sa-LOME" until you correct them; most english speakers aren't too well-versed on the "long-e" endings. They'll think it's said like "home" I bet.
I'm not sure what your name style is, so I'll just try to get a nice mix:
Ada Salome
Lily Salome
Charlotte Salome
Matilda Salome
Ella Salome
Elsa Salome
Flora Salome
Esther Salome
Ivy Salome
Christina Salome
Mabel Salome
Norah Salome
Odessa Salome
Sylvie Salome
Violet Salome
Wilhelmina Salome
*I don't know what it is, but something about Salome make me want to pair it with super-old-lady names.
Dorothea Salome
Eleonora Salome
Virginia salome
Helena Salome ("hel-AY-na")
Edith Salome
Eliza Salome
Vera Salome

A while ago, Mike C gave us more options with our name lists, and the default no longer was automatically published, and I completely forgot to change my settings. I was wondering why you wouldn't just check my profile for my name list to get style, and then I was like oh yeah, it's not there. Oooops. Anyways...
A lot of these are "my style" anyway. Helena Salome is really pretty. I don't think anyone has suggested a Charlotte combo to me that I don't like; here, a great balance of soft and strong (like toilet paper lol), classic yet quirky. Violet Salome is great, too. Thanks.

I love Salome and I've only ever heard it said Sah-low-may.
