Ariel, Arielle or Ariella?
What do you think of Ariel, Arielle and Ariella? Which one is your favorite and which one your least favorite?Do you pronounce Ariel and Arielle differently? Is it too tied to the little mermaid?Do you know anyone with those names? Ariel seems to have been quite common in the early 90s when the movie came out but has declined in popularity ever since.Do you like Ariela? The nickname Ari?

Arielle!I adore Arielle. Ariel is ncie too. Ariella is too frilly for me, so thats my least favourite.I say Ariel like the mermaid, Arielle like Ah-ree-elle. Much prefer the second. I prefer Ariel on a boy.Nope.Not really. It's a bit too frilly for me. Ari is ok, but Ella would feel like a more natural nn to me.

Love Ariel for a boy. I would choose Ariella for a girl, but I don't really like it...I prefer just Ella.

Ariel. Ariela's cute too. I find Arielle and Ariella a bit too frilly, especially the latter.

- I like all three versions of the name. My favorite would probably be Ariella.

- Yes I do pronounce them differently. Ariel I say as "air-ree-UL", whereas I say Arielle as "ARI-elle". I think it's still usable, even though it is quite linked to The Little Mermaid.

- Never met a girl with the name, no.Do you like Ariela? The nickname Ari?
- Ariela looks unfinished to me. Ari could be a nn for it, but I wouldn't use it as I like Ari as a full name and only for a boy.

I like Ariel for boys, but for girls, Ariella is my favorite. I also like Ariela. I pronounce Ariel in more than one way, but I tend to stick with the French pronunciation of Arielle. I don't think it is too Little Mermaid. I don't know any personally.

I love Ariella and could see myself using it. While I like Arielle too (Ariel is strictly masculine to me), Ariella has that extra something, imo. As a plus, it's not as closely associated with "The Little Mermaid." I pronounce Ariel and Arielle the same. I've only known one Ariel (a girl, Ariel May, who is about 6 now). I love Ari too.

In general, they are NMS but I don't dislike them out of hand.Which one is your favorite and which one your least favorite?
Fave: Ariel
Least: AriellaDo you pronounce Ariel and Arielle differently?
Yes. Ariel is AIR-ee-el; Arielle is ah-REE-elleIs it too tied to the little mermaid?
No. To me that's like saying Jasmine is too "princess-y" or Charlotte reminds you of a spider or Peter a rabbit. Do you know anyone with those names?
No, but I know a few AriannasDo you like Ariela?
Not too much.The nickname Ari?
It's fine as a nickname she's called occasionally, but not as a preferred shortened name. Ari is a guy's name imho.

I love these names!! I think they're all gorgeous. Arielle has been my #2 girls names for a long time now but sometimes I consider Ariel and Ariella (as well as Aria, Ariana etc.). If I HAD to put them in order I think for me it'd go: Arielle, Ariella, Ariel. But I do love them all. I do pronounce Ariel and Arielle differently, AHR-ee-al and ah-ree-EL respectively. I think a lot of people do associate Ariel with the Little Mermaid but they'd get used to it. I think I only know one Ariel (she's about 15) and that's it (although I met a little girl named Arie a while back and I don't know if it was short for something). Ariela is a bit awkward I think but still quite nice. I love the nickname Ari to death!! But I spell it Arie, it just looks more complete to me. Personally if I had an Arielle, Ariella, Aria etc. she'd go by Arie 80/90% of the time. And you know what? Hopefully I will have one. =)

-I like Ariel, but I don't care for the others. Ariel is cool because it reminds me of Sylvia Plath...or the Little Mermaid.-Ariel is AIR-ee-el, Arielle is AR-ee-el. Sure, it's tied to the Little Mermaid, but I see nothing wrong with the connection. It's a good movie.-I have a friend named Ariel, but she was born well before the movie. She carries it well.-No, I don't like Ariela. I don't like Ari, either.

Ariel I pronounce "AIR-ee-ell" and Arielle I pronounce "ar-ee-ELL" or "air-ee-ELL." I love both spellings and all three pronunciations. I like the looks of Arielle, but I like the pronunciation "AIR-ee-ell." I know a few Ariel's and a few Arielle's - all born in the late 80s and early 90s.

If I had to choose one I'd go with Arielle (ari-ELLE). Ariel (AIR-ee-el) is washing powder to me, or TV aerials, and Ariella is too frilly. Ariela looks better, imo - it's okay, quite pretty. Ari is nice.
